Competitive Rating Criteria

Never = 0 Often = 2 Usually = 3 Consistently = 4 Always = 5

A score higher than 42 is recommended to play on the competitive small-ball net.

Attention to Play:

• Player is ready and aware of all play going on around them ______

• Able to play within rules (Ball handling, net, etc.) ______

Ball Handling/ Passing:

• Passes regularly from middle or back row to front ______

• Frequently ball alive on hard serves or other balls ______

Energy/ Sustained Effort:

• Regularly demonstrates self-initiated effort and consistency ______

• Attends to team play and ball position ______

Movement:

• Often jumps, moves side-to-side to keep ball in play ______

• Moves freely and energetically in water ______

• Moves toward the ball between offense and defense with
  good pool coverage. Covering for out of position teammates ______

Net Play:

• Often successful in digging the ball out of the net ______

Serving:

• Consistently serves with high percentage of in-play balls ______

• Serves with speed/accuracy to score, not just to get over the net ______

Total ______

A score of 39 is 70% of possible score and needed to be safe and competitive.
